Homework

We believe that learning at home can be a valuable part of a child’s education, helping to reinforce learning, develop good habits and strengthen the partnership between home and school.

In Reception, homework is centred around daily reading, either through a reading for pleasure book or a reading book linked to our Little Wandle phonics programme.

From Years 1 to 6, children are given a termly homework choice board with foundation subject activities linked to their termly theme, so that they can choose how and when to complete tasks over the course of the term. They also receive a weekly maths activity linked to that week’s learning in class, alongside the expectation that they read every day, either from a reading for pleasure book or a levelled reading book. All homework is shared on Seesaw, our online platform for communication and learning, which allows teachers to set activities and enables families to view and support their child’s learning at home.
