Do your best for yourself and each other

Football Report

On Monday we played in a football topurnament at Archway. We played 6 games altogether and we finished as Runners Up!

Our first match in the Group Stage was against North Cerney. We knew we had a good squad on paper but could we perform on the day? It turned out we had a team who likes to play football. We won 2-0 with the Seward brothers leading us to victory.

Our second match we came up against Bisley Blue-coat. According to experts ‘goals win matches’. This was certainly the case! Daniel spent his time expertly propping up the goal posts as we won 4-0. Joe and Sam scoring 2 goals each.

In our third match, against Christchurch, there was some brilliant no-nonsense defending from Tommy and James. We won 2-0 although their keeper played very well. Joe and Sam scored once again.

Our final group match against Randwick saw Philip venture into nose-bleed territory for a defender. He wonderfully took the ball past a defender and dispatched the ball into the back of the net. We knew he had it in his locker. Joe added another goal which meant we won 2-0 and topped the group stage.

After this we were in the semi-final against Uplands- the previous years runners-up. It was a hard fought victory with Tom working particularly hard as a midfield general. Joe scored late in the match with his cultured left-foot. We were in the final.

As the final started it was obvious there were some tired legs out there. Despite this we felt we deserved a goal. Oleg had a great shot that hit the woodwork. Unfortunately, in the last minute, Thrupp scored a goal against the run of play. So we came Runners-up but we thought we played really well and had a fantastic time.

The team was: Tommy, Sam S, Tom, James S, Oleg, Daniel, Joe, Philip, Kieran and Ethan.
