Space Balloon Launch Success
Young Scientists from Cassiopeia successfully launched a balloon into space from Rodborough common. On a beautiful morning with a clear blue sky the children helped assemble the payload and inflate the balloon. The balloon is carrying an 'OHBOT' facial robot which they have programmed to commentate on the journey to an altitude of around 30,000m. At this height the balloon will burst and the OHBOT will parachute back down to earth. The OHBOT was carrying 2 cameras, one to film the OHBOT and another facing down to give a birds eye of the journey to space.
The children were also able to track the journey via GPS and study the changing altitude, direction and temperature.
When ( if!) the balloon is found we will get the film and put it on the website.
A great experience for all involved.
