Gingerbread house...
We made a gingerbread house today. We looked at photos of real gingerbread houses and made pretend candy canes and lollipops to decorate it. We have put it in our entrance hall as we are so proud of what we have made together.

Before we left school yesterday, we read a story about Jack Frost. We decided to leave out some pots of water with dinosaurs and Moshi monsters in to see what happened overnight. We were so excited when the characters were stuck in the ice, and it triggered lots of language and discussion about what had happened and how we could reverse it.
This week we are reading The Gingerbread Man. Mrs B drew around us and turned us into Gingerbread men and we decorated our outlines with loose parts.
Our huge sheets of material help us to create wonderful dens, this one stayed up for 4 hours today. We kept adding to it, and it ended up with a tunnel entrance, a front room, a bedroom and a kitchen with ALL the accessories.
We learnt a new song about Goldilocks, then Miss Hose made us a Goldilocks with hair that we could learn how to plait. We used lots of new language and listened to instructions.
We used marbling inks to create firework pictures. We used our small motor skills to open and squeeze the ink bottles. Then we used our large motor skills to splatter paint on large pieces in the garden, creating more firework patterns.
Today we continued to talk about ourselves and made our favourite foods out of playdough. This evolved into discussions about where they like to eat too.
Today we are learning to say one number for each item. Some of us didn't need to count them as we could subitise up to 5.
We have got an autumnal display in our window. Some children showed an interest in the small pumpkin and chose to draw it.
We made a beautiful scarecrow to display at Jolly Nice. We made a smaller one for our garden.
We have got all types of blocks used for lots of different activities. Today a child created his home and told us all about who lived there and what each area was. Lots of discussion and creativity.
Today we created a sensory tray. There were lots of different smells and textures to explore. We talked about what we could see and used our senses, asking lots of questions. We did not know what the corn was, so Mrs. B put some in a tub, and we listened to it popping. We were so surprised when we saw that we had made popcorn.
