On the rivet at the Velodrome
Children from Cassiopeia followed in the footsteps of Sir Chris Hoy, Sir Bradley Wiggins, Victoria Pendleton and many more at the Newport Velodrome. After a brief talk, it was on to the track bikes for a taste of track cycling. Mastering the fixed wheel, no brakes and pedal clips was daunting enough but things became a real challenge when the children saw the steepness and height of the track.
However, our fearless elite cycling team were soon up and off, moving from the 'Cote D'azure' and up onto the steep banked boards.
This was a real experience for all the children and quite an achievement to master track cycling in such a short time.
With only a few 'accidents' all the children got round safe and sound; a great morning out for all.
