Explicit teaching to model thinking, explain new content step-by-step and check understanding throughout. 

Metacognition which helps pupils plan, monitor and evaluate their learning. 

Scaffolding is carefully structured and gradually removed as pupils gain independence. 

Flexible grouping ensures teaching is responsive, allowing pupils to move between groups based on need, rather than label. 

Technology is used purposefully to enhance clarity, practice and feedback. 

Inclusive and invitational cold calling to ensure every pupil is engaged and thinking in a safe and supportive environment. 

Effective recording of understanding is prioritised, enabling children to demonstrate their learning in a range of ways that best reflect their thinking.
